||The two largest islands in the chain that makes up Fiji are the extinct volcanoes of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Fiji has a lot to offer both historically and scenically. The capital, Suva, has plenty of old shops and markets selling various home grown items such as handicrafts. Some of the more interesting places to visit are the National Museum, situated in the lush surrounds of Thurston Gardens, and the old Parliament Buildings providing an excellent introduction to Fijian history and culture. The orchids and flowering plants within the Garden of the Sleeping Giant at the foot of the Sabeto Mountains are delightful.
